Biochar Carbon Removal & Insetting with CarbonPilot
My path into the biochar world started about five years ago, sparked by the idea of turning local hemp waste into something beneficial for both the environment and farmers. Initially, I ventured into biochar production but hit a financial roadblock. That's when I stumbled upon the concept of carbon credits as a way to fund biochar projects. Since then, my goal has been to help biochar producers, big and small, tap into this crucial source of funding.A turning point in my journey was attending the first biochar academy in New York. There, I met incredible people who have deeply influenced my understanding of the industry. Before diving into biochar, I honed my skills in data storytelling, working with startups and Fortune 500 companies, which taught me the power of transforming data into meaningful narratives. My academic background is in economics, and I've worked in fields ranging from marketing analytics to cannabis, and now, carbon removal. I'm passionate about building digital tools aimed at eliminating a billion tonnes of CO2 by 2030. I firmly believe in biochar's potential in tackling climate change, which is why it's at the heart of my work. With over six years in business intelligence, focusing especially on biochar-based carbon removal, I enjoy turning complex data into clear, actionable strategies. I'm comfortable with various data analytics tools like Tableau, Domo, Looker, and SQL/Python/R, and I've got a handle on AdTech platforms and cloud-based data warehousing too.Outside of work, I'm all about getting outdoors – soccer, hiking, biking – and I also love photography and experimenting in the kitchen. These hobbies are my way of keeping a balance with my professional life.
