Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions (these “Terms”) govern your registration for and participation in 2024 North American Biochar Conference (the “Event”). You represent to us that you are authorized to enter into these Terms.
Event Terms & Conditions
You may only register for and attend the Event in accordance with these Terms. To register for the Event, you must complete the Event registration process.
Photography, Audio and Video Recording
By attending this event, you acknowledge and agree that US Biochar Initiative (USBI) has the right to use, reproduce, broadcast, rebroadcast, or incorporate in any manner whatsoever, all or any portion of photographs and/or videos of you or your participation in the Event for use in marketing materials and/or training materials and for internal use (“Materials”). You understand that the Materials may be substantially edited, altered, rearranged, or modified. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you hereby waive any moral rights you may have in the Materials. Your name, voice, likeness, and information may be used by Biochar 2024 and/or US Biochar Initiative in connection with your presentation. Copies of any visual aids and other materials used or provided by you may be made and distributed by the Biochar 2024 and/or US Biochar Initiative.
Lead Retrieval
By allowing an industry partner to receive your contact information throughout the Event, you are opting-in to receiving communications from that entity. You will be subject to their communications and privacy policy and must opt-out with them directly.
Information
USBI may collect, manage and share your information in accordance with USBI's Privacy Policy (https://biochar-us.org/privacy-policy) and all applicable data privacy laws and regulations.
Code of Conduct
We are committed to creating a safe environment that is inclusive and free from discrimination, regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, transgender status, age, disability, veteran or marital status, or any other protected categories under applicable law.
All participants must abide by the following policy:
Expected Behavior
- Be considerate of those around you.
- Be respectful of others and viewpoints that may be different from your own.
- Be mindful of your words and actions.
Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behaviors may include, but are not limited to:
- Offensive or unwanted behavior or language related to race, religion, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, transgender status, age, disability, veteran or marital status, or any other protected categories under applicable law.
- Visual harassment, such as sexual images or sexual language at the Event, including presentations and slide decks.
- Intimidation or bullying, both online and/or in-person.
- Sharing your event registration or making event content available to a USBI competitor.
- Any other illegal activity not already covered above.
- Sharing your event registration with another person(s).
- Failure to follow any of the rules or regulations of the event or instructions of the event staff.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated and could result in debarment from current, and/or any future USBI events. If a participant is seen engaging in unacceptable behavior, USBI may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the event without warning or refund. If appropriate, local law enforcement may get involved.
Reporting Behavior
If you are the subject of, or witness to any violations of these Terms and Conditions, you can contact us by sending an email to (info@biochar-us.org OR someone at infinity?).
If necessary, conference staff are empowered to take appropriate actions that may include, but are not limited to, debarment from the conference without refund and/or involving venue security or local law enforcement.
The Terms and Conditions may be revised at any time by USBI and the terms are non-negotiable.
Views and Perspectives
The views expressed by any event attendee, speaker, exhibitor or sponsor are not necessarily those of USBI. All event attendees, speakers, exhibitors and sponsors are solely responsible for the content of any and all individual or corporation presentations, marketing collateral, advertising and online Web content.
Presentations are intended for educational purposes only and do not replace independent professional judgment. Statements of fact and opinions expressed are those of the participants individually and, unless expressly stated to the contrary, are not the opinion or position of the USBI, show sponsors, or its program partners. USBI does not endorse or approve, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, accuracy or completeness of the information presented. Attendees should note that sessions are video recorded, including audio, and may be published in various media, including web, print, audio and video formats without further notice.
Security and Safety
By participating in the Event, attendees acknowledge that they assume all personal responsibility and voluntarily accept any associated risks. They release the conference organizers from liability for injuries, accidents, or losses and agree to indemnify the organizers against any claims. The organizers shall not be liable for unforeseen circumstances or force majeure events. Attendees are expected to comply with all laws and safety guidelines.
Force Majeure
In the event of unforeseen circumstances or force majeure events, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, acts of terrorism, political instability, or other circumstances beyond our control, the Event may be rescheduled, postponed, or canceled. The decision will be made by the conference organizers for the safety and security of all participants. We will communicate any changes promptly through official channels. Attendees are encouraged to monitor updates and understand that the organizers cannot be held liable for losses or expenses incurred due to these unforeseen events. Registrants are advised to consider appropriate travel insurance coverage to mitigate such risks.
Special Needs and Requests
I will inform Event organizers of any special accommodation needs no later than 30 business days prior to the start of the Event. The conference organizers are committed to accommodating special needs requests to the best of their ability. Contact cthomas@infinityconferences.com
Conference Schedule
The conference schedule and content are subject to change, and while we make every effort to provide accurate and up-to-date information, we cannot guarantee its stability. We appreciate your understanding in the event of unforeseen circumstances that may necessitate adjustments to the conference program.
Registering to attend this event acknowledges acceptance of these terms and provisions of registration.

Conference
CANCELLATIONS:
Refund/Cancellation PolicyCancellation of registration should be in writing and sent by e-mail to Matt Murphy at: mmurphy@infinityconferences.com by February 2, 2024. For every written cancellation received before December 31, 2023, 85% of the paid registration fee will be refunded to the participant. For refund requests received between January 1-February 2, 2024, 50% of the registration fee will be refunded. There will be no refunds given if notification is received after February 2, 2024, except in special circumstances such as medical emergencies. All refunds will be made within 60 business days after the end of the Congress. Bank charges will be deducted. Registrants are allowed to transfer their registration to another participant if they are no longer able to attend.
COVID 19 PROTOCOL:
As of May 5th, 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) no longer constitutes COVID-19 as a global public health emergency. However, conference participants are expected to adhere to the following procedures:
1. Adherence to Local, State, and Federal Guidelines:
The conference will strictly adhere to all local, state, and federal guidelines related to COVID-19. We will continuously monitor and adjust our measures as needed to stay in compliance with the most current health recommendations.
2. Self-Assessment and Responsibility:
Everyone who has registered for the conference has pledged that they will either be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or test negative within 72 hours prior to the event. If you are more comfortable participating wearing a mask, you are encouraged to do so. If you are not feeling well, exhibit COVID-19 symptoms, or have recently been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case, we kindly request that you stay home.
3. Testing and Reporting:
Should you experience symptoms or have concerns about your health during the conference, we encourage you to take a COVID-19 test.
4. Positive COVID-19 Test During the Conference:
If a participant tests positive for COVID-19 during the conference we advise that you quarantine and do not attend the conference on-site.
